Strategy Informer reports that Robert Rodat, the writer responsible for Saving Private Ryan, has signed on to write the script for the upcoming World of Warcraft film directed by Sam Raimi. If the opening scene isn’t a bunch of Night Elves picking up their blown-off arms after storming a Horde city, I’m going to be very disappointed.
Rodat also wrote The Patriot. I like The Patriot. Some parts are a little silly, but that style should fit well with a movie about undead skeletons who wear armor and ride around on skeleton ponies that also wear armor. Speaking of the Undead, here’s hoping that Raimi brings back the skeleton commander from Army of Darkness to make a cameo. “Sally for usshfeshfi” IT’S FUNNY BECAUSE HIS ROTTED JAW REPEATEDLY BREAKS.
According to Raimi, in an interview with MTV News,
We want to be really faithful to the game…to the Horde and the Alliance and the mythology that takes place in the game, and the archetypes that the game presents.
Let’s hope Raimi and Rodat aren’t too faithful to the game. I don’t need to see a movie that features skinning multiple giraffes to up skill or dancing in front of the auction house.
