left 4 dead nes de-make

How would Left 4 Dead look on the NES?

by Bryan Sharp on November 18, 2009

I‘ve already burned a lot of electricity this week playing the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2. On the plus side, the heat exhaust from my computer keeps my office pretty warm. If I was more like that guy Alton Brown from that show Good Eats, I’d figure out a way to use the heat from my computer to defrost meat or reduce a glaze. I can’t tell you how much energy I waste reducing glazes.

Since I’m on a Left 4 Dead kick, I found this video of a NESesque Left 4 Dead interesting. Eric Ruth, the creator of the game, calls it a “de-make.” For marketing purposes, I guess that is better than just saying it’s a game that’s worse than Left 4 Dead.

I don’t think it looks that fun because it reminds me of how I could be playing the real Left 4 Dead, but Eric’s dedication is worth applauding. I could never spend time churning out a worse version of a good video game. Honestly, I could never spend the time coding a good video game because I have no fucking idea what I’m doing.

I might not think the game looks that great, but I’m really digging the music. When he releases the game in January, Eric should sell the soundtrack on iTunes. I’ll turn that shit into a ringtone. I’ll do it.
