I hope this is a sign of things to come from Sony. The company has finally figured out that people who like awesome things probably also like other awesome things. When District 9 hits Blu-ray on December 29th, the disk will include a playable demo of God of War III.
A lot of bloggers are wondering how the two are related, but this combination makes perfect sense to me. What’s the first thing you want to do after watching District 9? Kill aliens. The enemies in God of War III may not technically be aliens, but they’re hideous enough to play the part.
Also, this could be a hint at a sequel or spinoff movie. A God of War movie is a hard sell since it’s based off a video game, but District 9 is now a proven ip. District 9 two (District 10? District 9 squared?) could feature Kratos as the main antagonist. This would almost certainly ruin both the God of War and District 9 franchises, but the movie should sell a lot of “what the fuck” tickets.
