Australia Upholds Left 4 Dead 2 Ban

by Bryan Sharp on October 22, 2009

Valve and EA tried, but Australia’s Classification Review Board still refuses to rate the unedited version of Left 4 Dead 2, so that version will not be sold in the country. Instead, Valve has a edited and rated version of Left 4 Dead 2 all ready to go. I don’t know what they had to edit to get the review board to rate the game, but my guess is that every gun fires needlepoint dragonflies that explode on contact in rainbow kaleidoscopes of confetti.

How is the population of Australia supposed to prepare for a possible zombie apocalypse if games where humans (as in alive, functioning members of society just trying to survive) shoot zombies (undead embodiments of pure evil) are banned in the country? Who doesn’t agree with shooting zombies? They’re fucking zombies. There should be baby zombies in the game so people know what to expect in a real life scenario.

In addition, it was the Review Board’s opinion that there was insufficient delineation between the depiction of general zombie figures and the human figures

Really, which part was fuzzy? Is it popular for people to bite each other on the street over there in Australia? Over here, In America, humans only bite other humans if they accidentally walk under bridges in certain cities. Maybe all the zombies in Left 4 Dead 2 are really humans that are just “punking” the survivors.

“Hahaha, gotcha! You totally shot Carl in the chest and bludgeoned Jen to death with that chunk of concrete, but you should have seen your face. Hahaha, oh man. You should have seen your face.”

“insufficient delineation,” Jesus Flapjack Fucking Christ. There’s a rotting hand on the box. The front of the box. The first thing you see when you pick up the game.

Australia, look forward to Left 4 Dead 2: Sunshine Honeypot Marshmellow Lumps on November 17th.
